Browne, Lee, Clarke, Maddox, Carroll, Miller, Earle, Malone, Fields, Parker,of Calvert, Grove, Spates, Henkle, Snyder, Hyland, Smith—17. Kimmel, NEGATIVE—None. The bill was then sent to the House of Delegates. Senate bill entitled an Act directing the Treasurer to pay to the School Commissioners of Howard county the sums of money due by the State from the Academic fund, Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 3, 9, 16, 17 and 87 of Article 73 of the Code of Public General Laws rela- ting to the Maryland Penitentiary, and to substitute in lien of sections 3, 9, 16, 17 and 87 the following : Endorsed, " Passed by yeas and nays." Mr. Lee, frem select committee, reported, Senate bill entitled an Act to sanction a grant of land from the Rev. John Chew to St. Pauls Parish, in Prince George's county. Which was read the first time. Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Worthington Valley and Manchester Rail Road Company, Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third receding. House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 194 of Article 8 of the Public Local Laws, entitled "Anne Arundel County," sub-title "Sheriff," and to re-enact another sec- tion in lieu thereof, relating to the fees of Sheriff for keep- ing and boarding prisoners, Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as follows: AFFIRMATIVE.
