Was taken up on its second reading.
On motion by Mr. Maddox,

The bill was postponed and made the order of the day for
Thursday, March 5th, next.

On motion by Mr. Carroll,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to incorporate a company to make a turnpike
road from Unity, in Montgomery county, to the Frederick
turnpike road in Howard county.

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of the
Baltimore and Hampden Passenger Rail Road Company,
passed at the January session, 1865, chapter 32, page 43,

Was taken up on its second reading, and
Mr. Clarke proposed the following amendment:

Amend by inserting after the word eight, in 4th line, 1st
section, provided, that the President and Directors of said
company shall open the books of subscription anew after ten
days notice in two or more papers in the city of Baltimore,
and one in Baltimore county, and shall keep them open, at
two or more places in the city of Baltimore, and at one, at
Woodbury, in Baltimore county, during the usual banking
hours, from Tuesday, the 7th day of April next, to Tuesday,
the 23d of April inclusive, and shall receive all sub-
scriptions to the capital stock of said company, which shall
be tendered according to the terms and under the limitations
of the charter.

Which was adopted, and

The bill as amended read the second time and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.

The following message was received from His Excellency,
Governor Swann, by the hands of J. M. Carter, Secretary of
State:

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

ANNAPOLIS, February 26, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

I have this day signed and transmitted to the Clerk of the
Court of Appeals the bill received from your Honorable Body
on the 20th instant, entitled

An Act to repeal chapter 129 of the Acts of 1864, en-
titled an Act to add additional sections to the 44th Article
of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Maryland Hos-
pital, " prescribing an additional oath to be taken by the
