On motion by Mr. Maddox,

Senate bill entitled an Act to endow the St. Mary's Sem-
inary,

Was considered, and made the order of the day for Mon-
day, March 2d, at 1 P. M.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance reported

Senate bill entitled an Act directing the Treasurer to pay
to the School Commissioners of Howard county the sums of
money due by the State from the academic fund.

Which was read the first time.
Also, reported favorably

House bill entitled an Act giving the assent of the State
of Maryland to the purchase of a parcel of land by the Gov-
ernment of the United States, from Wm. H. Dorsey and
others, and ceding to the United States of America the juris-
diction over the site of the North West Beacon Building or
Light House, and the parcel of land thereto appurtenant in a
line with the Brewerton Channel in the Patapsco River, in
this State.

Which was read a second time.
Also,

House bill entitled an Act to provide for the repayment out
of the storage and outage on Tobacco, of moneys heretofore
demanded and received by the Inspectors of tobacco in viola-
tion of the Acts of 1864, chapter 346, and 1865, chapter 194,
and to repeal the Act of 1867, chapter 148, in relation to
that subject.

With amendment as follows :

Insert at end of the 7th line, after the word "indirectly "
for outage on Tobacco charged to the owner or his agent,
and paid for reinspection over and above the legal charge of
fifty cents per hogshead for redrawing, also all sums so paid.

Which was adopted.
And the bill as amended read a second time.

Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Baltimore
Ice Company,

Being the order of the day, was taken up on its third read-
ing with the amendment thereto, of the 20th inst.

Which amendment was adopted.

And the bill as amended was then passed by yeas and nays
as follows:
