MONDAY, February 17, 1868.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Hildt.
Present at roll call:

Messrs. President, Carroll, Earle, Grove, Hyland, Ham-
mond, Maddox, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Parker, of
Worcester, Spates, Snyder, Smith, Welch—14.

Mr. Maddox presented the petition of a large number of
citizens of St. Mary's county, praying the continuance of the
present school system until September 1868.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.
Also,

Presented the petition of H. G. I. Key and other citizens
of St. Mary's county.

Which was referred to Messrs. Maddox, Malone, and Par-
ker, of Worcester.

Mr. Hyland presented the petition of Matthias D. Wil-
liams and other citizens of Trappe District, Somerset county.

Which was referred to Committee on Elections.

Also,

Two petitions of citizens of Princess Anne District, Somer-
set county, against the division of said district, &c.

Which was referred to the Committee on Elections.

Mr. Carroll presented the petition of citizens of Howard
county in regard to funerals passing over turnpikes free.

Which was referred to the Committee on Judicial Pro-
ceedings.

Mr. Snyder presented a communication from the Comp
troller of Baltimore city, enclosing a due bill of Richard
King.

Which, was referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Parker, of Worcester, presented the petition of sundry
citizens of Worcester county, in relation to a school system
for the State.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.
