1868.] OF THE SENATE. 233

House bill entitled a supplement to an Act entitled an Act
to incorporate the Burkettsville Female Seminary, passed
January session, 1867, chapter 111.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Corporations.

Also,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the
County Commissioners of Washington and Allegany coun-
ties to levy a sum of money upon the taxable property within
their respective counties, sufficient to pay the several clerks
of the Registers of Voters within the said counties.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee
on Finance.

Also,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 194, of Article 8,
of the Public Local Laws, entitled Anne Arundel county,
sub-title Sheriff, and to re-enact another section in lieu there-
of, relating to the fees of Sheriff for keeping and boarding
prisoners.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.

Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Southern
Maryland Rail Road Company,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Parker, of Calvert, it was

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns to-day that it
stand adjourned until Monday aext at 12 o'clock.

Messrs. Brewer and Walsh asked and obtained leave of
absence until Wednesday next.

A communication was received from His Excellency, the
Governor, by the hands of J. M. Carter, Secretary of State,
and,

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

The Senate went into executive session.

After a long session the Senate resumed the consideration
of legislative business, and,

On motion by Mr. Hyland,
Adjourned until Monday next, at 12, M.
