TUESDAY, January 7, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Hammond.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Albaugh, Beck, Biddison,
Blake, Bond, of Baltimore city, Bond, of Calvert, Brown,
Bowlus, Boyer, Byers, Chapman, Chaisty, Clark, Coad,
Colton, Conley, Corbin, Coudy, Davis, of Carroll, Davis, of
Cecil, Dalrymple, Devecmon, Dutrow, Fooks, Guy, Hall,
Hammond, Harden, Harig, Herbert, Holloway, Holmes,
Hopkins, Horsey, Hubbard, Iglehart, Johnson, Jones, Jor-
dan, Kean, Keech, Latrohe, Legg, Loker, Lowe, Markland,
Marshall, Maynard, McCulloh, McElroy, Mearns, Mitchell,
Montague, Moore, Morse, Mullin, Nelson, Nicolai, Pentland,

The Journal of Friday was read and approved.

Messrs. Goddard, Keech, Heck, and Dennis, officers elect,
appeared, qualified and entered upon the discharge of their
duties.

The Speaker laid before the House the petition of Philip
C. Friese, in relation to the political rights of the States and
of individuals ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Federal
Relations.

Mr. Latrobe presented the petition of M. Weisenfeld and
others, in relation to the Sunday law ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Robb presented the petition of Brooks & McAllister,

and other citizens of Baltimore city, in regard to convict

labor in the Maryland Penitentiary ; also, House of Refuge;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Robb, Beck, Morse,

Bowlus and Kean.

Mr. Dutrow presented a petition of fifty-six citizens of Fred-
erick county, praying the passage of an act to protect game
within the limits of said county.

Which was read, and referred to the Frederick county del-
egation.

Mr. Maynard presented a petition of W. R. Carney, Hamil-
ton Lindsey, and 33 other citizens of Frederick and Carroll
counties, for the appointment of Commissioners to open a
road in Frederick and Carroll counties.

Which was read and referred to the Frederick and Carroll
County Delegations.
