On motion by Mr. Earle,
The vote by which Senate bill entitled an Act to prohibit
the granting of license for the sale of spirituous or fermented
liquors or lager beer at or near Newark, in Worcester county,
in the State of Maryland,
was rejected, was reconsidered, and, on his motion, it was
ordered that the bill lie on the table.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message:

Gentlemen of the Senate :
We respectfully propose, with your concurrence, that the
select joint committee of seven appointed to visit and exam-
ine into the condition of all the benevolent and reformatory
institutions which are beneficiaries of the State, be author-
ized and directed to visit and examine into the condition of
all such benevolent and charitable institutions which have
applied, or may during this session apply to the General
Assembly for relief, or may request said committee to make
such visit and examination.

Mr. Smith moved that the following message be sent to
the House of Delegates :

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
We have received your message proposing that the joint
committee already appointed to visit and examine into the
condition of all the benevolent and reformatory institutions
which are beneficiaries of the State, be authorized and directed
to visit and examine into the condition of all such benevo-
lent and charitable institutions which have applied, or may
during this session apply to the General Assembly for relief,
or may request said committee to make such visit and exami-
nation, and concur therein.
And on the question being put, the motion was rejected.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered House bill
entitled an Act to incorporate the Atlantic Hotel Company
of Berlin, Worcester county.
Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.
