FRIDAY, January 31, 1868.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Father Burke.
Present at roll call:

Messrs. President, Browne, Biggs, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll,
Denson, Earle, Grove, Hyland, Hammond, Lee, Miller,
Malone, Parker, of Worcester, Spates, Snyder, Smith,
Walsh—18.

Mr. Denson presented the petition of the Faculty of Physic
of the University of Maryland.

Which was referred to Senators Smith, Denson, and Ham-
mond.

The President presented the report of John W. Page,
Principal of the Home School for boys, in Frederick city.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

On motion by Mr. Parker, of Worcester,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Worcester, Wi-
cornico and Somerset, to introduce a bill authorizing and em-
powering the Commissioners of Worcester county, if in their
judgment they deem it proper to subscribe to the capital
stock of the Worcester Railroad Company to an amount not
exceeding $50,000.

On motion by Mr. Earle, .

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report
A bill for the payment of the following bills:

Messrs. Gushing & Bailey, J. E. & G. Munroe, and Mr.
Thomas A. Makibbin.

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Walsh, Henkle. Brewer,
Parker, of Calvert, and Denson to introduce a bill to author-
ize the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company to lay a rail-
road track in certain streets in the city of Baltimore, and to
make an appropriation for the expenses thereof, on account
of and for the interest of the Tobacco Fund.

On motion by Mr. Malone,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a hill entitled an Act to amend the 16th
Article of the Code of Public General Laws by adding thereto
an additional section relating to Courts of Equity.
