Mr. Browne presented a memorial from citizens of Frede-
rick and Car roll counties.

Which, was referred to the Committee on Corporations.
On motion by Mr. Earle, it was

Ordered, That the Adjutant General of the State of Mary-
land furnish this body from the files and records of his office,
a statement which shall show the number of men who were
enlisted either as volunteers or drafted men in the military ser-
vice of the Federal Groverment to fill the quota of the State
of Maryland, in the years 1861, 1862 and 1863, up to the
16th day of October, of said last named year.

Senate bill entitled an Act to prohibit the granting of
license for the sale of spirituous or fermented liquors, or lager
beer, at or near Newark in Worcester county, in the State
of Maryland,

Was read a third time.

On motion by Mr. Parker, of Worcester,

The petition of sundry citizens of Worcester county, pray-
ing the passage of the above law, was read.

The bill was then rejected by yeas and nays as follows :

Grove, Parker, of Worcester,

Hyland, Smith—T.

Kimmel,

NEGATIVE.
Messrs. Browne, Miller,

Carroll, Spates,

Earle, Snyder,

On motion by Mr. Grove,
Mr. Biggs was granted leave of absence for ten days.

The following Senate bills, passed by both Houses, were
sent to His Excellency, the Governor, for his approval:

An Act entitled an Act to amend Article 29 of the Code of
Public General Laws, of the State of Maryland, adding
thereto the following sections.

An Act entitled an Act to authorize Lemuel Malone to
settle his accounts as guardian to George W. Smith, and to
pay over all money due said ward.

An Act entitled an Act to make valid the official acts of
the Justices of the Peace, Constables and Supervisors of the
public roads in Wicomico county.
On motion by Mr. Smith,

The Senate adjourned until to-morrow at 12, M.
