FRIDAY, January 24, 1868.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Hildt.
Present at roll call:

Messrs. Browne, Biggs, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll, Den-
son, Earle, Grove, Henkle, Hyland, Hammond, Kimmel,
Lee, Miller, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Parker, of Wor-
cester, Spates, Snyder, Smith, Walsh, Welch—23.

Mr. Smith presented the petition of citizens of Hoopers
Island, Dorchester county, in relation to killing wild fowl.

Which, was read and referred to the Senators from Dor-
chester, Wicomico and Somerset counties.

Mr. Smith presented the petition of citizens of Dorchester
county, praying the continuance until July 15th, 1868, of
the present school system.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

On motion by Mr. Carroll, it was

Ordered that the Sergeant-at-arms be granted leave of
absence until Wednesday next.

On motion by Mr. Brewer, it was

Ordered, That the Clerks of the Courts and Registers be
furnished with a copy of the Journal of the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill to add new sections to Article 16 of the
Code of Public General Laws, entitled "chancery" under
sub-title "infants," relating to the sales of real estate of
infants.

On motion by Mr. Kimmel,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal an Act to
repeal the Act of 1865, chapter 174, entitled an Act relating
to the registration of the voters of the State, and to enact
other provisions relating to the registration of voters in lieu
thereof, chapter 336, passed 13th March, 1867, and to enact
the following in lieu thereof.

On motion by Mr. Kimmel,
