148 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 24,.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :

BY THE SENATE,

January 24, 1868.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a Joint Committee, consisting of three
members of the Senate and four members of the House of
Delegates, to inform the Hon. Robert Fowler of his election
as State Treasurer for two years from and after the day of
his qualification as such.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
Clark, Spates and Earle.

Secretary.
Which was read.

Also returned the hill entitled an Act to amend the char-
ter of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company,
passed at January session, 1849, chapter 469.

Also the bill entitled an Act limiting the number of Jus-
tices of the Peace and Constables in Wicomico county.

Severally endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
Mr. Herbert submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 24, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

Your message proposing the appointment of a Joint Com-
mittee to wait upon the Hon. Robert Fowler, and inform him
of his election as Taeasurer of the State of Maryland, has
been received and we respectfully concur therein.

We have appointed on the part of this House, Messrs.
Herbert, Conway, Albaugh and Boyer.

Chief Clerk.
Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate.

Mr. Blake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be placed on the Journal that Messrs.
Robb, Biddison, Vandiver, Percy and Chapman, are absent
on business connected with this House.
