tide 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled " Fred-
erick county," and re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion by Mr, Heakle,

Leave was gsanted to the Committee on the Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries to introduce a bill to regulate the
measurement of oysters in this State.

The President presented a communication from the Su-
preme Bench of the city of Baltimore,

Which, was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.

Mr. Clarke presented a petition from the public school
teachers of Baltimore county,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 153,
passed January session, 1867, entitled an Act to add an ad-
ditional section to Article 30 of the Code of Public General
Laws, relating to crimes and punishments, and to re-enact
the same with amendments,

Was read a second time, and,
On motion by Mr. Smith,

Was re-committed to the committee.

At 12 M. the Senate proceeded to the Hall of the House of
Delegates, for the purpose of convening in joint assembly
with that body for the election of United States Senator.

At 1 o'clock P. M. the Senators returned to the Senate
Chamber, and resumed the ordinary business of the session.

Mr. Biggs presented the petition of citizens of Frederick
county ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

A communication was received from his Excellency, Gov.
Swann.

On motion by Mr. Lee,

The Senate went into executive session.

After a short session,

On motion by Mr. Earle,

The doors were opened, and the Senate resumed its usual
business.

Mr. Grove presented letters in reference to a mute in
Washington county;

Which were referred to the Committee on Finance.

The House bill entitled an Act to repeal the 53d, 54th,
55th, 56th and 57th sections of Article 19 of the Public
Local Law of Somerset county, relating to fences', was re-
ported favorably from the select committee, and read the
second time.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

The Senate adjourned until to-morrow at 11 A. M.
