On motion by Mr. Grove,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Pro-
ceedings to report a bill to repeal the Act of Assembly of
1864, chapter 405, and re-enact the same with amendments.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates returned the follow-
ing Senate bill,

Endorsed, " Passed by yeas and nays."

A bill entitled an Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to
incorporate the President and Directors of the Howard Fire
Insurance Company of Baltimore.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the fol-
lowing House bills :

A bill entitled an Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to
authorize and empower the County Commissioners of Kent
county to subscribe in behalf of said county to the capital
stock of the Kent county Rail Road Company, and to issue
bonds for the same, and to provide for their redemption,
passed at January session, 1867, chapter 139, by adding a
proviso to the first section of said Act, relating to the issuing
of county bonds and the time for their payment.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Internal Improvements.

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 40 of Article 11
of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "Frederick
County," and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill entitled an Act to repeal the 53d, 54th, 55th, 56th
and 57th sections of Article 19 of the Public Local Laws of
Somerset county relating to fences.

Which was read the first time and referred to Senators
from Somerset, Wicomico and Dorchester.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

The Senate, agreeably to the provisions of the Act of
Congress of the United States, entitled an Act to regu-
late the times and manner of holding elections for Senators
in Congress, " approved the 25th day of July, A. D., 1866,
proceeded, by a viva voce vote of each Senator present, to
name one person for Senator in Congress from the State of
Maryland for six years from and after the 4th day of March,
1869.
