TUESDAY, January 14, 1868.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Hammond.

Present at roll call :

Messrs. President, Browne, Biggs, Brewer, Carroll,
Denson, Earle, Grove, Henkle, Hyland, Hammond, Lee,
Maddox, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Parker of Worcester,
Spates, Snyder, Smith, Walsh.—20.

On motion by Mr. Lee,
The Senate went into executive session.

On motion by Mr. Malone,

The doors were opened and the Senate resumed its usual
business.

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

The application of Dr. E. Hall Richardson was referred to
the Committee on Education.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Education to in-
troduce a bill to donate the St. Mary's Female Seminary in
St. Mary's county.

Mr. Kimmel presented the petition of Horace L. Brooke,
President of the Union Railroad Company, of Baltimore,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to amend an Act incorporating the Western
Run Turnpike Company, passed at January session 1867,
chapter 396.

On motion by Mr. Malone,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Wicomico, Wor-
cester and Somerset, to report a bill limiting the number of
County Commissioners for Wicomico county.

The House bill entitled an Act to amend the 4th section of
the Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at
the January session 1864, chapter 29, entitled an Act to re-
peal the 12th section of an Act to incorporate the Kent
County Railroad Company, passed on the 8th day of March,
1856, chapter 148, to add four sections thereto, and to ap-
point four new commissioners in the place of four deceased
commissioners,

Was read the second time.
