On motion by Mr. Biggs,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations
to report a bill to repeal an Act, passed January session,
1866, entitled an Act to incorporate a company to build a
turnpike road from Union Bridge, in Carroll county, to
Unionville, in Frederick county, and enact a substitute
therefor.
On motion by Mr. Snyder,
Leave was granted to withdraw from the files of the Sen-
ate '' 9, bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Baltimore City
Grain Elevator and Storage Company."
On motion by Mr. Snyder,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to add a new article to the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, to be entitled " Foreign Insurance," and to repeal
sections 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36 of the 56th
Article of the Code of Public General Laws.
On motion by Mr. Maddox,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to alter and amend the Act of 1865 entitled
an Act to incorporate the Ben Franklin. Fire Insurance Com-
pany of Baltimore.
On motion by Mr. Malone,
Leave was granted to the Senators from Wicomico, Queen
Anne's and Talbot to report a bill to authorize Lemuel
Malone to settle his accounts as guardian to George W.
Smith, and to pay over to his said ward the amount of money
due him.
The bill entitled an Act to make valid the official acts of
the Justices of the Peace, Constables, and Supervisors of the
Public Roads in Wicomico County,
Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
The bill entitled an Act to incorporate Newton Lodge No.
56 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Salisbury,
Wicomico county, Maryland, was read the second time.
On motion by Mr. Hammond,
Section 5 relating to the issue of bonds, notes or bills to
be used as currency was added to the bill, and it was then
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
On motion by Mr. Grove,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill to amend the 2d section of Article 82
of the Code of Public General Laws, and amend the same
by adding an additional section thereto.
On motion by Mr. Snyder,
Leave was granted to the special committee on the Mary-
land Penitentiary to introduce a bill entitled an Act to re-
peal sections 3, 9, 16, 17 and 87, of Article 73, of the Code
of Public General Laws, relating to the Maryland Peniten-
