On motion by Mr. Welch,

The rules were suspended, and leave granted to Messrs.
Welch, Miller, and Malone to report a bill to refund taxes
erroneously paid by Matilda 0. Pearce, Guardian of May
Clementine Pearce.

On motion by Mr. Earle, it was

Ordered, that 2,000 copies of the annual report of the
Comptroller of the Treasury be printed for distribution
among the members of the Senate ; 1,700 in English, and
300 in the German Language.

The President announced that the hour had arrived to bal-
lot for the terms of office of the respective Senators agreeably
to the Constitution, and appointed Messrs. Walsh and Earle
as tellers.

The forms having been carried out agreeably to the report
of the select committee, the ballots were read and resulted as
