BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 7, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message proposing the appoint-
ment of a joint committee to visit all the reformatory and
benevolent institutions which are beneficiaries of the
State, and respectfully concur therein. We have named
upon the part of the House Messrs. Poteet, Beck, Blake and
Percy.

The following message \vas received and read from the
House of Delegates :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 7, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your communication proposing that the
Committees on Education of the Senate and House shall sit
jointly, and respectfully concur therein.

Mr. Maddox submitted the following message, which was
adopted and sent to the House of Delegates :

BY THE SENATE,

January 8, 1868.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message proposing to appoint a joint
special committee of the two Houses on that part of the Gov-
ernor's Message which refers to the Maryland Penitentiary,
and concur therein. We have named on the part of the
Senate Messrs. Maddox, Snyder, Hammond.

On Motion hy Mr. Earle, it was

Ordered, That a committee of five be appointed by the
Chair to take up the new Constitution, and make refer-
ence of such matters therein as require legislative enactment
to the appropriate committees.

On motion hy Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted and referred to Committee on Finance
to introduce a hill repealing chapters 15, 246 and 373 of
Acts of 1864, and chapters 33, 49 and 106 of the Acts of
1865, and relating to bounties to soldiers, &c., and re-enact
the same with amendments.
