FRIDAY, January 24, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Burke.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Loker, Boyer, Beck, Ham-
mond, Iglehart, Deale, Bond, of Calvert, Dalrymple.
Mitchell, Nicolai, Slingluff, Poteet, Holmes, Rose, Lowe,
Corbin, Stewart, of Dorchester, Davis, of Cecil, Touch-
stone, Richards, Mearns, Guy, Sudler, Legg, Holloway,
Smith, of Worcester, Albaugh, Dutrow, Wenner, Bowlus.
Maynard, Byers, Silver, Nelson, Brown, Moore, Hubbard,
Wentz, Morse, Blake, Latrobe, Pentland, Smith, of Balti-
more city, Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin, Chaisty,
McElroy, Harig, Markland, Marshall, Conway, Syester,
Coudy, Herbert, Rohrer, Seibert, Riggs, Offutt, Conley,
McCulloh, Kean, Devecmon, Trimble1 Hall, Jordan, Worth-
ington, Clark, Jones, Fooks—70.

Mr. Bowlus presented the petition of Henry Crone to have
a sum of money, erroneously paid into the Treasury, refunded
to him.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Hubbard presented a petition from W. H. Smith,
and sundry other citizens of Caroline county, in relation to
public roads in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Roads
and Highways.

Also, a petition from J. W. Dean and 38 others, for an
additional Justice of the Peace and Constable in the third
election district of Caroline county.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Hubbard, Moore
and Boyer.

Mr. Bowlus presented the petition of Andrew Kessler for
redress and indemnity for imprisonment by the Federal Gov-
ernment while serving the State in the Legislature in the
year 1861.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, presented the petition of Sam-
uel H. Jarman and others, of Worcester county, in relation
to bridges over Pocomoke river.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Smith, of Wor-
cester, Holloway and Corbin.
