Mr. Earle submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

January 3, 1868.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable,
Body, to proceed to the election of State Treasurer to-day at
half-past one o'clock.

By order,

A. GASSAWAY,

Secretary.

Which was read.

Mr Olarke submitted the following amendment:

Strike out the words " to-day at half-past one o'clock,'
and insert " next Wednesday week at 12 o'clock, M."

The question, upon the adoption of the amendment, was
determined in the negative.

Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment:

Strike out the words "to-day at half past one o'clock,"
and insert " Thursday next at 12 o'clock, M."

On the question being put it was determined in the
affirmative.

The question then recurred upon the adoption of the
message as amended, and it was determined in the affirm-
ative.

Said message was then sent to the House of Delegates.

Messrs. Earle and Walsh, from the joint committee ap-
pointed to wait upon his Excellency, the Governor, and inform
him that the two Houses of the General Assembly were
organized and ready to receive any communication he might
be pleased to make, reported that the committee had per-
formed that duty, and that they had been requested by his
Excellency to inform the Senate that he would communicate
a message to the two Houses in a few moments.

The following message was received from his Excellency,
Governor Swann, by the hands of John M. Carter, Esq.,
Secretary of State:

Which was read.

On motion by Mr. Earle, it was

Ordered, That twenty-five hundred copies of the Gov-
ernor's Message be printed in English, and fifteen hun-
dred in the German language for distribution among the
members of the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Snyder,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore City Senators to re-
port

A bill entitled "an Act to repeal sections 34, 35, 36, 37
and 38 of the Fourth Article of the Code of Public Local
