Friday last, the day upon which the final ballot was had for
United States Senator, he would have voted for Gov. Thos.
Swann.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Brown submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Treasurer be directed to inform the
House what banks (formerly State banks) have refused to
pay the school tax, as provided by law.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Legg submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Stephen Boyer be granted leave of absence
on and after to-morrow for four days.
Which was adopted.

Mr. Nelson submitted the following order :

Ordered, that. S. R. Gilbert, Sergeant-at-Arms, have leave
of absenee until Wednesday next.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, submitted the following
order :

Ordered, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he
is hereby respectfully requested to inform this House, what
literary, charitable and reformatory institutions are bene-
ficiaries of this State, with the several amounts appropriated
annually to each one of said institutions under existing laws.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Loker submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal of the House,
that Mr. Chapman is absent on business connected with this
House.

On motion of Mr. Hall,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to incorporate the town of Westernport,
Allegany county.

On motion of Mr. Hammond,

The leave which was on yesterday granted to the Commit-
tee on the Judiciary to report a bill entitled an Act for the
protection of the public against medical impostors, was
withdrawn from said Committee and referred to Messrs.
Haminond, Chaisty, Rose, Holloway and Nicolai.

On motion of Mr. Iglehart,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Public Buildings
to report a bill to appropriate a sum of money to repair and
paint the State House Building at Annapolis.

On motion of Mr. Seibert,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to re-
