county, praying the passage of an Act to prevent all persons,
not citizens of the State, from catching fish in Elk River and
the head-waters of the Chesapeake Bay, above Spesutia
island.

Which was read, and referred to the Cecil, Kent and
Harford delegations.

Mr. Nicolai presented the petition of John M. Bond, ask-
ing to be refunded a sum of money erroneously paid into the
State Treasury.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Hopkins presented a petition from Wm, Walter and
others, praying the passage of a law continuing in force the
present school system till July next.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Syester presented the petition of Ambrose Ingman to
refund to him a sum of money therein mentioned.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Hall presented the petition of Wm. H. Miller and 92
other citizens praying the passage of an Act authorizing the
Commissioners of Allegany county to appropriate a sum of
money to build a bridge across the Potomac at Westernport.

Which was read and referred to the Allegany county del-
egation.

Mr. Slingluff presented a petition against the repeal of
the funeral law by 60 residents of Baltimore city and
county.

Also the petition of Wm. G. Maxwell, Coulter & Co., and
others against a repeal of the law forbidding turnpike com-
panies taxing funerals.

Which were read and severally referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.

Mr. Corbin presented the petition of Samuel M. Costen
and 68 other citizens of Somerset and Worcester counties,
praying the establishment of a public ferry on the Pocomoke
river at Rehoboth.

Which was read and referred to the Somerset and Wor-
cester delegations.

Mr. Worthington presented the memorial of Edwin M.
Shipley for balance of compensation as superintendent of
public buildings.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Morse submitted the following order :
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal of this
