The Secretary of the Senate returned

The House bill entitled an Act to legalize a supplement to
the Maryland Code containing the Acts of the General As-
sembly, passed at the sessions of 1861, 1861-62, 1864, 1865,
1866 and 1867, arranged in Articles and sections to corres-
pond with the Code, by Lewis Mayer, and to appropriate a

sum of money to purchase copies of the same and to regulate
their distribution.

Endorsed, "Reported from Committee of Conference, and
report rejected by yeas and nays."

The bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay David Fowler for legal services in the Comptroller's De-
partment.

Endorsed, "Reported from committee of Conference and
report adopted, but the yeas and nays not called upon the
final passage of the bill.''

The joint resolutions expressive of the views of the General
Assembly upon the present condition of the nation,

Were read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The following bills, which had passed both branches of the
General Assembly, were this day submitted to His Excel-
lency, the Governor, for his approval:

An Act to repeal an Act entitled an Act to repeal Article
63, Code of Public General Laws, relating to Militia, and
sections 652 to 770, both inclusive, of Article 4, of the Code
of Public General Laws, relating to Militia in the City of
Baltimore, and to re-enact the same with amendments,
and to enact the following in lieu thereof.

An Act to repeal sections 96 to 109, inclusive, of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, for Charles county, under
the head of Roads, and to enact the following in lieu thereof,
and to provide a road system for St. Mary's county.

An Act to add a new Article to the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, to be entitled Public Education, providing a
general system of free public schools for the State of Mary-
land, and to repeal all laws inconsistent therewith.

An Act to repeal the Act passed 23d March, 1867, chapter
184, entitled an Act to repeal Article 71 of the Code of Pub-
