JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 22,

within the limits of Frederick, Baltimore and Carroll coun-
ties,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendment ;

Section 2, strike out all after the word " than" and in-
sert the words, three days and not more than two weeks.
Which was rejected.

Mr. Slingluff submitted the following amendment:

Section 2, strike out the words " respective counties," and
insert the words, to the jail of the county in which the offence
was committed.

Which, was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, moved a reconsideration of
the vote by which section first was passed to a third reading.
Decided in the negative.

Mr. Jones moved that the House do now adjourn.
Mr. Biddison demanded the yeas and nays,
The demand being sustained,
