to introduce a bill to repeal the 39th Section of the 15th
Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled Mont-
gomery county, relating to the number of Justices of the
Peace and Constables, and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following :
A bill entitled an Act to provide for the measurement of
oysters in the State of Maryland.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Select
Committee on that subject.
Also joint resolution directing the Librarian to furnish the
Clerk of the Circuit Court with certain books therein named.
Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on the Library.
And returned the bill entitled an Act to amend an Act to
authorize and empower the County Commissioners of Kent
county to subscribe in behalf of said county, to the capital
stock of the Kent County Railroad Company, and to issue
bonds for the same and to provide for their redemption, passed
at January Session, 1867, Chap. 139, by adding a proviso to the
1st Section of an Act relating to the issuing of county bonds
and the time for their payment.
Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
Also, the bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Marine
Railway and Manufacturing Company of Havre de Grace,
and to amend the Act of 1867, chapter 211.

Mr. Mitchell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judi-
ciary, reported favorably a bill entitled an Act entitled an
Act to provide for the re-payment out of the storage and
outage on tobacco of moneys heretofore demanded and re-
ceived by the Inspectors of Tobacco, in violation of the Acts
of 1864, chapter 346, and 1865, chapter 194, and to repeal
the Act of 1867, chapter 148, in relation to that subject.
Which was read a first time.
Also, a bill entitled an Act to amend the 43d section of
the 29th Article of the Code of Public General Laws relating
to the compensation of the Crier of the Court of Appeals,
and of the Sheriff appointed to attend said court, and the
Act of 1862, chapter 107, amending the same by repealing
the same and enacting a substitute thereof.
Which was read a first time.
Also, the Senate hill entitled an Act to authorize Lemuel
Malone to settle his accounts as guardian to George W.
Smith, and to pay over all money due said Ward.
Which was read a second time, and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
