So the motion to lay the whole subject on the table did
not prevail.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the
amendment submitted by Mr. Mitchell,

It was adopted.

Mr. Mitchell submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, line 10, insert after the word "Alley," the
words or to expose for sale to the public any wares, goods or
merchandise of any kind whatever.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Mitchell submitted the following amendment:

Add at the end of section 1, "and all such persons who
shall on Saturday commit or do any of the acts or things pro-
hibited on Sunday in the preceding sections of this Article,
shall be liable to be indicted, and on conviction, to be pun-
ished in like manner as provided in said several sections, in
cases of similar offenses on Sunday."

Which was read and adopted.

The bill, as amended, was then read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Herbert,

The House then proceeded to the consideration of bills
entitled to a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 96 to 109 inclu-
sive, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland for
Charles county, under the head of " Roads," and to enact
the following in lieu thereof,

Was read a third time and passed by yeas and nays as
follows :
