TUESDAY, January 21, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Cronin.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Loker, Boyer, Beck, Ham-
mond, Iglehart, Deale, Bond, of Calvert, Dalrymple.
Mitchell, Chapman, Nicolai, Slingluff, Poteet, Holmes.
Biddison, Rose, Lowe, Horsey, Stewart, of Dorchester,
Touchstone, Richards., Mearns, Keech, Guy, Williams,
Sudlcr, Legg, Holloway, Albaugh, Dutrow, Wenner, Bow-
lus, Maynard, Byers, Silver, Nelson, Vandiver, Brown,
Moore, Hubbard, Wentz, Robb, Morse, Blake, Latrobe,
Pentland, Smith, of Baltimore city, Bond, of Baltimore
city, Colton, Mullin, Chaisty, McElroy, Harig, Markland,
Marshall, Conway, Herbert, Rohrer, Riggs, Offutt, Conley,
McCulloh, Kean, Trimble, Hall, Jordan, Worthington,
Clark, Fooks, Hopkins—71.

The Speaker laid before the House the report of the Mary-
land Hospital;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Also, the memorial of George R. Gaither and others, ask-
ing the repeal of the tax on mortgages ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Nicolai presented the petition of John Smith, J. Yel-
lott, and twenty-three other citizens of Baltimore county,
praying the passage of an Act to continue the present school
system in force till Juljr 15, 1868 ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

Also, the petition of A. Hoen and sundry other citizens of
Baltimore county, in favor of allowing the York Road Rail-
road Company to run their cars on Sunday ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

Mr. Williams presented the petition of forty-five citizens
of the Second Election District of Prince George's county,
prayin-g the passage of an Act requiring the Commissioners
of Prince George's county to levy a sum of money to complete
the bridge at Bladensburg ;

Which was read and referred to the Prince George's del-
egation.
