On motion of Mr. Herbert, (the rules being suspended,)

; Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Antietam Hotel Company
of Hagerstown, Md.

The Speaker laid before the House the following :

COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE,

ANNAPOLIS, January 17, 1868.
Hon. Wm. A. Stewart,

Speaker of the House of Delegates :

SIR—In obedience to an order passed by your Honorable

Body, on the 16th instant, to "inform the House whether

any., and what errors have occurred in the distribution of the

" Free School Fund," accruing under the Acts of 1813 and

1816, from the year 1852 to the year 1867, inclusive," I

have the honor to state that in the distribution of the "Free

School Fund" for sixteen years, from 1852 to 1867, inclusive,

there was paid to each county, (except Baltimore city and

Baltimore county,) $16,926.77 ; and that there was paid

to Baltimore city and Baltimore county, each the sum of

$8,463.39, as appears from a careful examination of the

books of this office.

On motion of Mr. Poteet,

At 2 1/4 o'clock P. M., the House adjourned until to-morrow
