The question recurring upon assenting to the message,

It was decided in the negative.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal section 939, Article 4 of
the Public Local Laws relating to Baltimore city, sub-title
" Water," as enacted by chapter 38 of the Act of the Gene-
ral Assembly, passed at the January session, 1866, and to
re-enact the said section, so as to read as follows:

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act for the relief of the Faculty of
Physic of the University of Maryland,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to run, define and mark the divid-
ing line between Prince George's and Montgomery counties,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to regulate the decision of points
and questions reserved for Courts in bane as provided by sec-
tion 22, of Article 4, of the Constitution,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The hill entitled an Act to repeal sections 96 to 109 inclu-
sive, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland for
Charles county, under the head of Roads, and to enact the
following in lieu thereof,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Chapman submitted the following amendment:

Strike out section 3, and insert the following in lieu there-
of :

SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That on the first Saturday of June
next, at an election to be held at the same places where elec-
tions are now held by law in Charles county, of which notice
shall be given by the Sheriff of said county for the time, and
in the manner provided by law for such notices, and which
shall be held, conducted and returned by the Judges of elec-
tions of said county as other elections are required to be
done, the duly registered voters of said county shall vote on
the questions of the adoption of this Act, by expressing in
writing or in printed form, the words " For the Road Law"
or " Against the Road Law," as the case may be, and no
blank ballots shall be counted, but shall be returned sepa-
rately, and the returns of said elections shall be certified
