The bill entitled an Act to repeal the 39th. section of the
6th. Article of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
negro apprentices, and to re-enact the same so as to read as
follows,

Was read a third time, and,
On motion of Mr. Hall,

Was recommitted to the Committee on Colored Popula-
tion.

Mr. Mitchell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judi-
ciary, reported favorably

The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1864,
chapter 267, providing for a State subscription to Wingate's
Register, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read a second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

Mr. Williams, from a select committee, reported fa-
vorably

The Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Baltimore
and Ohio Rail Road Company to lay a railroad track in cer-
tain streets of the city of Baltimore, and to make an appro-
priation for paying the expenses thereof on account of and
for the interest of the tobacco fund, with proposed amend-
ments,

Said bill being upon a second reading.
Amendment proposed :

Section 2, line 1, after the word "State," insert the words
upon the warrant of the Comptroller.
Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Nicolai,
The further consideration thereof
Was postponed, and

The bill made the order of the day for Monday, 23d
instant.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, Chairman of a select com-
mittee, reported favorably

A bill entitled an Act to incorporate and establish a House
of Refuge for male negroes and persons of color of the State
of Maryland.

Which was read a first time.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following bills,
severally endorsed, " Passed by yeas and nays :"
