KENT COUNTY.
A further additional SUPPLEMENT to the ACT, entitled, an Act to provide
for the Public Instruction of youth in Primary Schools throughout this
State, passed at December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-five,
chapter one hundred and sixty-two, so far as the same relates to Kent
County .— 1839, ch. 100.

SEC. 1. Be if enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall and may be
lawful for the trustees of the several school districts in Kent
county, to adopt such regulations as to the admission into the
primary schools of their respective school districts, of children
not residing within their respective districts, as to them shall
be deemed necessary for the interests of the children residing
in, and receiving tuition in said district schools, and to prevent
the introduction of a greater number of scholars not residing
in said district, than can be properly attended to by the teach-
ers of said schools, or to the exclusion or prejudice of the
children resident in said school district ; Provided, that noth-
ing in this act shall be construed to prevent the admission of
such children from the adjoining districts who shall reside
nearer to the school-house of such adjoining districts than the
school-house of the district in which such children may reside.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That so much of the sixth sec-
tion of the supplemental act passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-five, chapter three hundred and three,
as may be repugnant to, or inconsistent with the provisions of
this act be, and the same is hereby repealed.

Magistrates' Courts in the several Counties of this State, and to prescribe
their Jurisdiction, passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
thirty-five, chapter two hundred and one, so far as the same relates to

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the eighth section of the act passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-five, chapter two hundred and
one, entitled, an act to establish magistrates' courts in the seve-
ral counties of this state, and to prescribe their jurisdiction,
be, and the same is, from and immediately after the passage of
this act, hereby repealed, so far as the same relates to Kent
county.
