to which this is a supplement, the several boards of commis-
sioners may in their discretion give to any school that may
hereafter be in operation for six months in any one year, the
sum of fifty dollars, as a donation, out of the surplus revenue
school fund for each election district of said county.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the acts of assembly, passed
December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, chapter
four hundred and ten, the act passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, chapter two hundred and
eighty-nine, be, and the same are hereby repealed, and the act

CARROLL COUNTY.

AN ACT to authorize the Commissioners of Carroll County to borrow
money for the erection of a Poor-house for said County, and for other
purposes.— 1839, ch. 113.

 

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the commissioners of tax of Carroll county, be, and they are
hereby authorized to borrow on the credit of said county, any
amount of money not exceeding five thousand dollars, to be
applied lo the purchase of a farm and the erection of suitable
buildings thereon, for the use of the poor of said county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That it shall be the duty of the
said commissioners to appoint annually on or before the first
day of February, three persons residents of said county, who
shall be the trustees of the poor of said county, and whose
duty it shall be to superintend the affairs connected with the
poor-house of said county, under the direction of the said com-
missioners of tax ; and it shall be the duty of the said trustees
to meet at the poor-house at least onca every three months, to
examine into the affairs of the institution.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said trustees shall make
a report of the condition of the said poor-house, and of their
own proceedings, to the said commissioners of tax, on or before
the first Monday in January, annually ; and the said trustees

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of tax of
Carroll county shall give one month's notice in the newspapers
of said county, of the completion of said poor-house, and its

county, in pursuance of the provisions of this act, when all
