An additional SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, to authorize the repairing of the
Court-house of Baliimore County, and for other purposes, passed
December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-four, chapter one hun-
dred and fifty-eight.— 1839, ch. 56.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That for the purpose of completing the objects of the act to
which this is a supplement, the amount of the stock which the
mayor and city council of Baltimore were required to create
and issue in conformity with said, act, be, and is hereby aug-
mented fifteen hundred dollars, and that for the payment of the
interest and principal of said augmentation, provision shall be
made by the commissioners of Baltimore county, and the mayor
and city council of Baltimore, in the proportions and manner
prescribed for the payment of the principal and interest of the
sum of the stock authorized by the said original act, and that
the money which shall be obtained by the mayor and city
council of Baltimore for the augmented stock aforesaid, shall
be paid for the purposes of this act, by the register of the city
of Baltimore, upon the order of the court-house commission-
ers, or a majority of them, appointed by or in virtue of said ori-
ginal act.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the sheriff of Balti-
more county for the time being shall summon and return a panel
of forty-eight good and lawful men, residing within the said
city, ten days before the day appointed for holding the terms of
Baltimore city court, as prescribed by the act to which this is a
supplement, out of which said panel, the said court shall direct
the clerk to draw by ballot, twenty-three persons, who shall
be empanelled and sworn to serve as grand jurors, during the
term to which they shall be summoned, and the persons re-
maining upon the said original panel, shall attend the said court
and serve as petit jurors, and that no person shall be summoned
as a juror of said court more than once in any one year, nor

shall any person be summoned and returned as a juror by any
sheriff, who may not have arrived at twenty-five years of age,
and who doth not possess the other qualifications required by
the constitution and laws of this state.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
justices of the peace in the city of Baltimore, wherever they
shall commit for want of bail, any person or persons for trial
on charge of assault and battery for keeping a disorderly house,
