BALTIMORE CITY.

A SUPPLEMENT to the ACT, entitled, an Act to regulate the Municipal
Government of Howard District of Anne Arundel County. — 1839
ch. 322.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
in the election of commissioners within Howard district, to take
place on the first Saturday of April next, all persons having a
right to vote for delegates to the general assembly, and none
others, shall be entitled to vote.

BALTIMORE CITY.

AN ACT to repeal an Act, passed at December session, eighteen hundred
and thirty-seven, chapter three hundred and thirty-three. — 1839, ch. 7.

 

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the act passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
thirty-seven, chapter three hundred and thirty-three, entitled,
an act to guard against frauds in the exercise of the elective
franchise in the city of Baltimore, and to establish with greater
certainty the rules of evidence to be observed at all elections
in said city, commonly called the 'registry law,' be and the
same is hereby repealed.

A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, to provide for weighing Hay and Straw,
brought for Sale in the City of Baltimore .—1839, ch. 50.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all hay and straw brought to the city of Baltimore for
sale either by land or water, except hay in bundles, shall be
weighed at the state hay scales, and no other place, and by one
of the weighers, at the rate of one hundred pounds to the hun-
dred weight, and it shall be the duty of the said weigher or
his deputy as the case may be to make a reasonable allowance
for the moisture of said hay or straw, as well as for the mud or
other substance attached to the wagon or cart or sled, contain-
ing such hay or straw, and the said weigher shall make out his
certificate for every hundred pounds net weight, and that
every twenty hundred pounds net weight shall be considered

a ton, and he shall be entitled to receive two cents to be paid
by the seller for every hundred weight of hay and straw thus
weighed until the weight of the load amount to twenty hun-
dred, but in no case shall he receive more than forty cents for
any one load of hay or straw so weighed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts and parts of acts
inconsistent with this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.
