then it shall be the duty of the commissioners for Saint Mary's
county, at their first regular meeting, or at any special meet-
ing thereafter, to appoint one or more persons as the case may
be, friendly to the cause of primary schools, residents of the
respective election districts where such vacancy occurs, who
shall in their stead act as commissioners of primary schools.

 

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the trustees of the respec-
tive school districts, as soon as they shall have qualified by
taking an oath, or affirmation, that they will well and truly

with the requisitions of this act, and that at least fifty dollars

SEC. 5. And be if enacted, That the commissioners for Saint
Mary's county, be, and they are hereby substituted for and in-
vested with all the powers of the commissioners of the free
school fund of Saint Mary's county, and the treasurer of the
western shore, is hereby required to pay over to the said com-
missioners for Saint Mary's county, or to their order, annually,
such proportion of the school fund as said county may be enti-
tled to receive.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of the
free school fund of Saint Mary's county, be, and they are
hereby required to deliver and pay over to the commissioners
for Saint Mary's county, all their papers, books, accounts, and

appropriated to the purposes of this act, and the residue to be
applied to the education of poor children, for the present year
