SAINT MARY'S COUNTY.

 

school-houses, and to employ some person of correct moral
deportment and well qualified and competent to teach the ele-
mentary branches of an English education, such as spelling,
reading, writing, arithmetic, English grammar and geography,
as a teacher for said school districts respectively.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of Saint
Mary's eounty, shall annually hereafter apportion the sum
they shall be entitled to receive from the treasurer of the
western shore, under this act, equally among the several
school districts who shall have substantially complied with
the provisions of this act, and they are hereby authorized to

district, whenever such trustees shall certify to them, that
they have employed a teacher qualified as above mentioned,
and kept their school open for at least six months of such year,
free for the instruction of all white children in such district ;
Provided, nothing herein contained shall prevent the trustees
of any school district from dismissing any pupil from said
school, for misbehaviour.

Quorum.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That a majority of the commis-
sioners of primary schools, of any election district, and also a
majority of the trustees of any school district, shall be compe-
tent to transact any business or duty devolved upon them by
this act.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the commissioners for
Saint Mary's county, be, and they are hereby empowered to
fill by appointment of some qualified person or persons, any
vacancy or vacancies occurring at any time hereafter in the
commissioners of primary schools, from death, resignation, re-
fusal to serve, or removal from the district, and the commis-
sioners of primary schools are hereby likewise empowered, to
fill by appointment of some qualified person or persons, any
