lars each per annum ; and should there be any excess, after the
tuition of the said children shall have been paid for, the trus-
tees aforesaid shall pay over the same to the commissioners of
the school fund, to be divided and distributed by them accord-
ing to the provisions of the first section of this act.

Report to
be made of
application
of fund.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the trustees aforesaid shall
annually, in the month of November, report to the commis-
sioners of the school fund, the state and condition of the
schools in their respective school districts, and shall particu-
larly notice the application of the fund which shall have been
placed under their directions.

Statement
to be trans-
mitted to
legislature.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of the
school fund, shall in the month of January next, and annually
thereafter, transmit to the legislature a detailed statement of
their proceedings under this act.
Sec. 6. Repealed by 1832, ch. 237.

Vacancies.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the commissioners aforesaid
shall have power to fill any vacancy or vacancies in the board
of trustees which may from time to time happen from any
cause whatever.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this act shall not be in ope-
ration until on the first day of January eighteen hundred and
thirty-two.

Repeal.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts,
inconsistent with, or repugnant to, the provisions of this act,
be and the same are hereby repealed.

AN ACT to authorize the inhabitants of the several Primary School Dis-
tricts in Queen Anne's County, to levy a Tax on the Property in said
Districts, fur the establishment of Schools. — 1832, ch. 156.

thorized to
pay teacher.

SEC. 1. Be if enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a majority of the taxable inhabitants residing in the seve-
ral primary school districts, in Queen Anne's county, are
hereby authorized to have levied annually on all the taxable
property in their respective districts, a sum of money not ex-
ceeding three hundred und fifty dollars, nor less than two
hundred dollars for the payment of a teacher in each district
as aforesaid, to be voted and collected in the same manner that
said inhabitants are authorized to vote and collect a sum for
the purchase of a site for a school-house, and the erection of
the same by the act of December session, eighteen hundred
und twenty-five, chapter one hundred and sixty-two.

Authority to
build, &c.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if in any of the said primary
school districts of said county, the taxable inhabitants may not
have met to select a site, and vote a tax to build a school-
house as the act of assembly of eighteen hundred and twenty-
five prescribes and directs, that they may still have power and
authority to do so at any future time.
