to the said managers, a list of said lands and the amount of taxes
thereon respectively due, and the names of the persons re-
spectively chargeable with the payment of the same, and the
said managers shall thereupon have and exercise in relation to
said lands, all the powers which might or could be exercised
by the commissioners of the tax of any county in this state in
like cases.

SEC. 13.* And be if enacted. That the collector of county
charges, acting as collector for any school tax, authorized and
directed to be levied under the provisions of this act, shall have
the same power and authority, and be bound by the same obli-
gations, have the same fees for collecting, and be subject to the
same rules, regulations and duties, with respect to the collec-
tion of said school tax, as by law appertains to his oflice of
collector of the county charges.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That the trustees of each school
district shall hold their office till their successors shall be ap-
pointed, and qualified, and in case of vacancy, such vacancy
shall be filled by the same managers or a majority of three, and

if any person shall be chosen a trustee and accepting, shall
neglect or refuse to bond and qualify, such person shall forfeit
and pay the sum of ten dollars, to be recovered and appro-
priated as directed by the second section of this act.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That whenever any tax, as
herein directed, shall be assessed and apportioned upon any
school district, the said managers having been furnished with a
correct statement of such levy, shall issue their warrant to the

managers shall have the right at all times to make such abate-
ment or exonerations for indigent persons, as to them shall ap-

to time, as the tax is collected, pay the amount over to the
treasurer of the school fund for said county, and shall settle
his duplicate account with the said managers, on or before the
time fixed upon therefor, in the warrant of the said managers.

SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That the trustees of each school
district, shall, out of the moneys coming into their hands, either
from the public school fund by donation, or by the tax voted
by the citizens of their respective districts, rent, lease or pur-
chase a suitable site for a school-house, pay the salaries of
teachers and all other incidental necessary expenses.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the trustees of each school
district shall fix the time for the opening of the school, and
how long it shall continue during the year; admit pupils;
visit the school by one or more of their number at least once
in every three months ; provide fuel, books and stationery ;
