day, to be paid in the same manner that their present allow-
ance is now paid.

CRIER.
An ACT to compensate the Crier of Montgomery County Court. — 1837,
ch. 230.

Levy

directed.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, the levy court of Mont-
gomery county, be, and they are hereby authorized and re-
quired to levy a sum of money on (he assessable property of
said county as will in their judgment compensate the crier of
said county court.

AN ACT to ascertain the allowance to Jurymen and Witnesses of the
General Court, and the several County and Orphans Courts in this
Slate.— 1797, ch. 94.

AN ACT io provide for the payment of Jurors and State Witnesses, in
Montgomery County. — 1835, ch. 73.

Levy for

1836-7.

SEC. I. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy court of Montgomery county, be, and they are
hereby authorized and required to levy on the assessable pro-
perty of said county, at the usual time of making the county
levy, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-six, such sum of
money as the said levy court may deem sufficient to defray the
expenses which have been or may be incurred by the attend-
ance of jurymen and state witnesses, at Montgomery county
court, during the years eighteen hundred and thirty-six and
thirty-seven.

Annually in
advance.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
said levy court, to levy as aforesaid, in the year eighteen hun-
dred and thirty-seven, and annually thereafter, such sum of
money as they may deem sufficient to pay the expenses which
may be incurred the then succeeding year, by the attendance
of jurymen and state witnesses at Montgomery county court.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the sum or sums of money
directed to be levied by this act, shall be collected by the
collector of Montgomery county, as other charges are now
collected, and shall be accounted for by him as herein after
directed.

Payment

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of said
collector to pay to the jurymen and state witnesses of said
county, immediately after the termination of each and every
court, such sum of money as they may severally be entitled to
receive for their attendance as jurors and state's witnesses.
