A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT to limit the sitting of the Commissioners of the
Tax ID Montgomery County, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and thirty five, chapter thirty-four.—1836, ch. 152
Merged in 1838, ch. 128.

AN ACT to consolidate the duties of the Levy Court and Commissioners ot
the Tax for Montgomery County, and prescribe their duties.— 1838,
ch. 128.

 

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the senate, shall appoint,
and he is hereby required annually to appoint five persons,

citizens of Montgomery county, one of whom shall reside in
each of the election districts of said county, to be called the
commissioners for Montgomery county, and in case of a va-
cancy occasioned by the death, resignation, refusal to act or
removal out of the county, of either of said commissioners, the
governor shall supply such vacancy occasioned by such death,
resignation, refusal or removal, as the case may be.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That each commissioner shall,
before he enters upon the duties of his office, take and sub-
scribe such oath or affirmation as is now required by law to be
made and subscribed by the justices of the levy court and
commissioners of the tax of said county, which oaths shall be
kept among the records of Montgomery county court.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the commissioners appointed
as aforesaid, and their successors, shall be, and they are hereby

their annual meeting, appoint a clerk, who shall discharge all
the duties appertaining to the respective officers of clerk of the
levy court and commissioners of the tax ; and the said clerk,
