SCHOOLS.

AN ACT, entitled, an additional .Supplement to the Act, entitled, an Act
for the distribution of a certain fund for the purpose of establishing
Free Schools in the several Counties therein mentioned, so far as relates
to Harford County.— 1831, ch. 226.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That so much of the second section of an act passed thirteenth
of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-three, as directs the
orphans court of Harford county, to place the school fund mo-
ney of said county, in sonic bank or savings institution as they
may receive it, be, and the same is hereby repealed, and the
said orphans court are hereby authorized at their discretion to

invest any surplus money in their hands belonging to the said
school fund, in the manner they may deem most advantageous
for the augmentation of said fund.
No law can be found in 1833 — it is presumed that it refers to that
of 1862, ch.160, sec. 2.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the orphans court of said
county, shall after the passage of this act, require the register
of wills of said county, to keep a separate and distinct account
with each commissioner of the school fund of said county, for
all receipts and disbursements.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if any commissioner of the
school fund of said county, shall neglect or refuse to settle his
or tlicir account or accounts, as is required by existing laws
with tho orphans court of said county, for six months alter the
time required by law, it shall then be the duty of said orphans

appoint some other duty qualified person or persons in his or

That the orphans court of Harford county shall draw on the
treasurer of the western shore annually, in the second week
in July, for such portion of the increase of the income of that
part of the surplus revenue received from the government of
the United States, of which the interest has been pledged by
the state for purposes of education, as Harford county shall
be entitled to receive; mid shall also draw as aforesaid for the
