CALVERT COUNTY.

 

act, by or against the justices of the levy court of said county,
shall be carried on in like manner, and have the same legal
effect, either in favour of, or against the commissioners, pro-
vided for by this act, as if such suit or suits had been insti-
tuted by or against the said commissioners.

Repeal.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That so much of any act or acts
of assembly as are contrary to, or inconsistent with the provi-
sions of this act, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

AN ACT to authorize the Commissioners of the Tax, for Calvert County,
to levy a sum or sums of money for an increase of the Salary of their
Clerk- 1831, ch. 242.

Be it enacted, by the General Assemby of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, the commissionsers of the
tax for Calvert county, be, and they are hereby authorized to
levy a sum of money on the assessable property of said county,
not exceeding two bundled dollars, for the salary of their clerk,
any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

AN ACT, entitled, an Act to abolish the Commissioners' Court of Calvert
County, and to provide for the election of Commissioners of Tax by the
people— 1838, ch 259

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the commissioners'
court of Calvert county be, and the same is hereby abolished.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That Levin W. Ballard, Levin
Standforth, James S. Morsell, Uriah Laveille, James Harrison,
Benjamin Harrison, be, and the same are heieby cieated a
boaid to be styled the levy court of Calvert county, who shall
exeicise all the poweis, and perform all the duties heretofore
required to be performed by the commissioners' court of said
county, until the election of members of said court herein after
provided for.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the mode and manner of
electing the said members of the levy court of Calvert county,
shall be as follows: The voters of each election district who
are now, or may be at the time of the election qualified to vote
for members of the house of delegates shall, on the first Wed-
nesday in October, eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, and at

the same time every two years thereafter, vote at their re-
spective places of voting as already provided for by law, for
such person or persons possessing the same qualifications as
candidates for the house of delegates.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the judges of election for
each election district in said county, or a majority of them, shall
certify under their hands, and retuin in form and manner
