shall be entitled to a certificate of honorary membership, to be
issued in like manner and limited for the like period, as the cer-
tificates of uniformed and active members, and said honorary
members shall for the time limited in their certificates, be ex-
empt from militia duty only, except that they shall be liable to
duty in said company, in case of invasion.

Seven years

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That any person who shall have
been for seven successive years a uniformed, and active mem-
ber in one or more volunteer companies as aforesaid, shall
thereafter be exempt from militia duty, except in case of in-
vasion or insurrection.

'SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the major-general of the
first light division, and the officers of his staff, if absent from
any of the parades of that division, shall be liable to the same
fines as the major-general of the third division, and the officers
of his staff respectively for absence from the division review,
and this shall be reported to, and tried by the brigade court of
appeal of the First Light Brigade, in like manner as the major-
general of the third division, and the officers of his staff are re-
quired to be reported to, and tried by the brigade court of appeal
of the third brigade for absence from division review, and in alt
cases where the major-general of the first light division or the
officers of his staff shall be fined as aforesaid, or by any court
martial, the returns shall be made to the commanding officer of
the first light brigade.

SEC.10. And be it enacted, That the commanding officers
of regiments on* the first light division, shall, after each and
every parade, make the same returns and perform all the duties,
which by the seventeenth section of the act, of eighteen hun-
dred and twenty-three, chapter one hundred and eighty-eight,
are required from the regimental parade and division review,
and all the duties which by the eighteenth section of the act last
aforesaid, are required to be performed by any officers in re-
lation to the division review, shall be performed in like manner
after each and every parade of the first light division.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the commanding officer of
each brigade in the first light division and third division, shall,
within twenty days after the last parade of the year, appoint the
court of appeal for his brigade, and each commanding officer of
brigade, and each brigade-major and inspector, shall within the
said twenty days, perform all the duties required of them, re-
spectively, by the twenty-second section and other sections of
the act of eighteen hundred and twenty-three, chapter one hun-
dred find eighty-eight, having reference to brigade courts of
appeal.
