MILITIA.

parade, twelfth of September, eight o'clock, A. M. ; division re-
view, nineteenth of October, nine o'clock, A. M. ; and if either
of said two last parades happens on Sunday, it shall take place
at the same hour on the following day.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That at the May, June and
September parades, the commanding officer of the division, as
soon as the parade is formed at the place appointed in division
orders, shall forthwith hand over to the commanding officer of
brigades, the command of their respective brigades, and the
commanding officers of brigades at the May and September
parades, shall forthwith hand over to the commanding officers
of regiments, the command of their respective regiments, and
said commanding officers of regiments at the September parade
shall forthwith hand over to the commanding officers of com-
panies, the command of their respective companies.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all certificates of member-
ship issued to members of volunteer companies in said division,
shall be limited to expire on the first day of March next, follow-
ing the date of said certificates.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That every such certificate of
membership, shall in addition to its other privileges exempt the
holder thereof from jury duty, for the time limited in said
certificate.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted. That the commanding officer of
each volunteer company as aforesaid, shall, between the first
and tenth days of March, in each and every year, furnish the
sheriff of Baltimore county, with a full and correct list of the
members of said company, to whom certificates of membership
have been issued for the current year, and no person named in
said list shall be required to perform jury duty, and any com-

manding officer of a company failing so to do, shall be fined
not exceeding one hundred dollars, in the discretion of the
court martial as the case may require.

Penalty.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That in case the commanding
officer of a company, shall fail to furnish the list as above re-
quired, or shall omit the name of any member to whom a cer-
tificate was granted, and in every case where a member shall
join a company and obtain his certificate after the list has been
furnished as above required, such member if summoned on a
jury shall be discharged on producing his certificate to the
sheriff or coroner, as the case may be.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That all certificates of mem-
bership issued to uniformed, and active members of a volunteer
company as aforesaid, shall specify that said member is a uni-
formed and active member, but every such company may
