SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the inspector, or his deputy,
|

in tho city of Baltimore, shall hereafter receive, for inspecting

for inspect-
ing barrels,

every barrel, half barrel, or tierce of salted fish of any kind,
|
&c.
|
the sutn of twelve and a half cents, herrings excepted; and
|
|
that for inspecting every barrel, half barrel, or tierce of her-
|
|
rings, the said inspector, or his deputy, in said city, shall receive
|
|
six and a quarter cents, and no more ; which said fees shall be
|
|
paid by the person or persons requiring said fish to be inspected;
|
|
and all fish shall be branded with the year, in figures, when in-
|
|
spected.
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the inspector, or his deputy,
|

in the city of Baltimore, shall have full power and authority,

to discharge

and he is hereby authorized and empowered, to discharge any
|
coopers for

cooper or coopers employed about the coopering of any barrels,
|
neglect, &c.

half barrels or tierces of fish, that he may have to inspect, if in
|
|
his judgment the cooper or coopers so employed shall neglect or
|
|
refuse to comply with his directions in relation thereto ; and any
|
|
cooper or coopers who shall refuse to leave the said barrels, half
|
|
barrels or tierces, as aforesaid, and shall persist in working
|
|
thereupon, after having received his or their discharge from the
|
|
said inspector, or his deputy, as aforesaid, shall forfeit and pay
|
|
the sum of twenty dollars for each and every such wrongful
|
|
act, to be recovered and appropriated in the same manner as
|
|
all other fines are recovered and appropriated in the said ori-
|
|
ginal act.

|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the master or owner of any
|

SEC. 5. And whereas, great abuses have hitherto proceeded

Provided, that in his judgment said mackerel be of A very poor

and inferior quality, and the said No. 3, be a due and fair esli-
