Penalty for
|
SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That the supervisor of the public
|
neglect, &c.
|
roads in said county, who shall refuse or neglect to summon
|
|
every free able bodied male person, or the master or mistress of
|
|
any male servants as aforesaid, who shall refuse or neglect to
|
|
recover the fine or fines by this act imposed on any person for
|
|
not assisting in repairing the public roads, such supervisor
|
|
shall, for every person whom he shall not summon or warn as
|
|
aforesaid, and for every person from whom he shall neglect to
|
|
recover the fine or fines as aforesaid, forfeit and pay the sum of
|
|
ten shillings current money for every such offence ; Provided,
|
|
that nothing in this act contained, shall authorize any super-
|
|
visor to summon or warn any person above four days in each
|
|
and every year, and any person summoned or warned for more
|
|
than the said four days, such person shall not be obliged to
|
|
attend more than the said four days.

Persons
|
SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That if any person or persons
|
may pay an-
nually &c.
|
shall, on or before the first day of September annually, pay to
|
|
the supervisor of the public roads of the district in which such
|
|
person or persons shall reside, the sum of fifteen shillings cur-
|
|
rent money, for each and every person liable to assist in the
|
|
repairing the public roads in said county, such person or per-
|
|
sons shall not, for one year from the day on which such pay-
|
|
ment or payments is or are made, be liable to the penalties of
|
|
this act, and the supervisor shall not be obliged to summon
|
|
such person or persons, any thing in this act lo the contrary
|
|
notwithstanding.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That the supervisor shall, and he
|
to lay out
|
is hereby authorized and empowered to lay out the moneys, or
|
moneys, &c.
|
any part theieof which by this act he may receive from any
|
|
person or persons, in the same manner he is authorized to dis-
|
|
pose of the money levied for repairing the public roads by this
|
|
act.
|
And render
|
SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That the supervisors of the
|

public roads in said county, be, and they are hereby directed to
|

lay before the levy court of said county, on their annual meet-
|
|
ing, an account on oath of the receipt and expenditure of the
|
|
money received and expended by this act.

How fines,
|
SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That all fines and forfeitures by
|
&c. are to
be recover-
|
this act imposed, under the sum of ten pounds currant money,
|
ed, &c.
|
shall be recovered in the same manner as small debts are reco-
|
|
verable out of court ; and every justice of the peace in the said
|
|
county, before whom any of the fines by this act imposed shall
|
|
be recovered, shall, and he is hereby directed to lay a particular
