some central place therein, and convenient time, to be by him
appointed, who, or a majority of them, when so met, shall re-

said division, and make any alterations of the same that may
appear to them necessary ; and in case of any alteration being
made, the major-general shall return the same, by mail, to the

brigadier shall call together the colonels, lieutenant-colonels,
and majors of his brigade, at some convenient place and time,
to be by him appointed, who, or a majority of them, when so

necessary by them, in the arrangement and bounds of their

several regiments, battalions, and squadrons ; and said brigadier
shall, as soon thereafter as may be, transmit, by mail, a return
of any alterations made as aforesaid, to the adjutant- general's

officers of regiments, extra battalions, and squadrons, shall con-
vene, from time to time, as may be necessary, the commanding
officers of companies, in their respective regiments, battalions,
or squadrons, at some convenient place and time, to be by them
severally appointed, who, or a majority of them, when so met.

lions, squadron, or companies; and the commanding officer of

And whereas , changes have taken place in the population
since the arrangement of the militia into districts was made, as
aforementioned, it shall be the duty of the major-generals of
the militia of this state, and they are hereby severally required,
under a penalty of two hundred dollars each, to order a meeting
of the brigadier-generals, within their respective divisions, to
the first day of May next, at some convenient place within then
proper divisions, who, or a majority of them, when so met, shall
