hereby repealed, except so far as the same relates to slaves
running away from another state, and taken up within the limits
of this state, or slaves running away from this state and taken
without the limits thereof; Provided, that nothing in this act
shall be construed to extend to the apprehending of any servants
or slaves, taken up within the limits of the District of Columbia.

Exceptions.

CHAPTER 167,
A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an additional supplement to an Act,
entitled, an Act to reduce into one the several Acts of Assembly re-
specting Elections, and to regulate said Elections, passed at December
session, eighteen hundred and thirty-two, chapter two hundred and
seventy-five.

 

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That, for the purpose of choosing eight representatives in the
congress of the United States, this state shall be, and it is hereby
divided into seven districts, which shall be numbered from one
to seven ; that Worcester county, Somerset county, and Dor-

chester county, shall compose the first congressional district,
and shall be entitled to choose one representative ; that Caro-
line county, Talbot county, Queen Anne's county, Kent county,

and Cecil county, shall compose the second congressional dis-
trict, and shall be entitled to choose one representative ; that

Harford county and Baltimore county, shall compose the third
congressional district, and shall be entitled to choose one re-
presentative ; that the whole of Baltimore city and Anne Arun-
del county, including the city of Annapolis, shall compose the

Third.

fourth congressional district, and shall be entitled to choose two
representatives ; that Montgomery county, and all those parts of
Frederick county which, under the act to which this is a sup-
plement, compose the sixth district, shall hereafter constitute the

Fourth.

fifth congressional district, and shall be entitled to choose one
representative ; that Allegany county, Washington county, all
those parts of Frederick county, which, under the act to which
this is a supplement, compose the seventh district, shall hereafter

constitute the sixth congressional district, and shall be entitled
to choose one representative ; that Prince George's county,
Calvert county, Charles county, and Saint Mary's county,
which, under the act to which this is a supplement, compose

the eighth district, shall hereafter constitute the seventh con-
gressional district, and shall be entitled to choose one repre-
sentative.

Seventh.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That so much of the act of assem-
bly, to which this is a supplement, as may be inconsistent here-
with, or as by this act may be rendered unnecessary, be, and
the same is hereby repealed ; and all other laws of the state,
which may be repugnant to this law, and inconsistent there-
with, shall be and are hereby declared to be also repealed.
