CONSTITUTIONAL REVISION STUDY DOCUMENTS

Head: Boards elect central office executive from their membership.

Members: Various state examining boards.

Term: 1 year.

Removal: No statutory provisions.

Employees: All merit; at present, there are 2 employees.

Function: Established for use of State Boards including barber examiners,
examining engineers, electrical examiners and supervisors, examin-

ing moving picture machine operators and commissioners of prac-
tical plumbing. Office is place where above boards and agencies
discharge their duties and keep their records.

Board of Barber Examiners

Established By: Md. Code Ann., art. 43, §§ 311-325.

Head: President designated by board, also its secretary and treasurer
from membership.

Members: 3 members appointed by the governor. Member must be a barber
for at least 5 years.

Term: 2 years.

Removal: No statutory provisions.

Employees: Members receive $20 per day and 10c per mile. All employees
exempted from the Merit System. At present, there are 16 em-
ployees.

Function: License examiners, etc. Board has power to appoint sub-boards
in cities and villages throughout the State as deemed necessary.
Sub-board to consist of 3 members.

State Board of Examining Engineers

07.25.00.01

Established By: Md. Acts of 1892, ch. 448; Md. Code Ann., art. 41, § 214.
Head: Chairman.

Members: 2—appointed by the governor. Must have professional quali-
fications.

Term: 2 years.

Removal: No statutory provisions.
