APPENDIX

Metropolitan Transit Authority

Established By: Md. Code Ann., art. 64B, § 3.

Head: Chairman elected by members.

Members: 7: 1 appointed by the governor, 2 by the mayor of Baltimore City,
2 by the County Council of Baltimore County, and 2 from Anne
Arundel County as provided by statutory provisions.

Term: 5 years, staggered.

Removal: By appointing authority for misfeasance, malfeasance or willful
negect of duty after notice and hearing.

Employees: 3 employees. Secretary-Treasurer and executive director appointed
by authority and serve at its pleasure.

Function: To improve the mass transportation facilities in Baltimore metro-
politan area and to license and regulate all mass transit and
facilities within its jurisdiction of Baltimore City and the metro-
politan areas of Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties adjoining
the City.

Metropolitan Transit Authority Advisory Council
Established By: Md. Code Ann., art. 64B, § 6.
Head: Chairman elected by members.

Members: 6: 1 from the Public Service Commission designated by the
governor, the commissioner of transit and traffic of Balti-
more City, the director of Public Safety of Baltimore County,
representatives of Planning Commission of Baltimore City and
Planning Department of Baltimore County and 1 designated
by the County Council of Anne Arundel County.

Term: Not specified.
Employees: None.

Function: To advise the Authority on changes in routes, schedules and
services of any public or private transportation company.

Head: Designated by the governor. No departmental or ex officio mem-
