Members: 10: 3 police officials of the State appointed by the governor;
7 ex officio as follows: the presidents of the Maryland Chiefs
of Police Association and the Maryland Law Enforcement
Officers, Inc.; attorney general; superintendent of Maryland
State Police; commissioner, Baltimore City Police Depart-
ment; president of the University of Maryland; and agent
in charge, Baltimore City F.B.I. Office.

Function: To advise on training policy for state and local police officers.

Head: Designated by Commission from its membership. Vice-chairman
also designated by Commission from its membership.

Members: 5-member Commission composed of professor of Pathology, Uni-
versity of Maryland, and of Johns Hopkins University; representa-
tives of State Department of Health selected by Board of Health;
commissioner of Health of Baltimore City; superintendent of Mary-
land State Police.

Term: No statutory provision.
Removal: No statutory provision.

Members: Commission serves without compensation. Deputy medical exam-
iners are paid by county for each death investigated. Toxicologist,
chief and assistant medical examiners are paid by State comp-
troller. All other expenses are paid by Baltimore City.

Function: To investigate violent and suspicious deaths unattended by a
physician throughout the State. They must file a report of all
deaths investigated with the office of the chief medical examiner.
